Oncology Support

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine to Support Your Cancer Care in Richmond and Surrounded Areas.

The Role of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs in Cancer Care

Chinese Herbal Medicine has been used for centuries to support health and wellness, and its role in cancer care continues to grow as more patients seek complementary therapies.

By working alongside conventional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, Acupuncture and Herbs offer a natural way to manage side effects, improve well-being, and enhance the body’s natural healing abilities during treatment, as well as in the management of possible long-term issues you might experience post-treatment.

This image represents the podcast I recorded with YesToLife. In it, we explore how Chinese Medicine can provide valuable support for individuals undergoing cancer treatment. Listen to this insightful conversation to discover natural therapies and holistic approaches to enhancing well-being during challenging times.
In this episode, I share a bit about my personal story—how my studies and experiences led me from Italy to the UK and why I chose to specialise in oncology. I also discuss how my journey with medicinal herbs began, particularly through my training at the White Crane Academy with Andrew Flower. I then explain how herbal medicine has become a valuable support for cancer patients. A frequent side effect of cancer treatments is fatigue and nausea.  Moreover, breast cancer patients often suffer from hot flashes due to hormone therapy. I will also explore how herbal remedies can help ease these symptoms and provide support during this challenging period.

Integrating Chinese Herbal Medicine in the Treatment of Advanced Metastatic Breast Cancer: A Case Study

This image represents the podcast I recorded with YesToLife. In it, we explore how Chinese Medicine can provide valuable support for individuals undergoing cancer treatment. Listen to this insightful conversation to discover natural therapies and holistic approaches to enhancing well-being during challenging times.

This case study describes the journey of a 52-year-old woman with advanced metastatic, hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, managed through an integrative approach combining Chinese herbal medicine with conventional oncology treatment.

When we began working together, her tumour marker CA15-3 was 248 U/mL.

Over two years, I prescribed personalised herbal formulas aimed at supporting her constitution, alleviating symptoms, and complementing her conventional treatment.

Her tumour markers steadily declined, reaching 129 U/mL by late 2022 and continuing to decrease as her energy, sleep, and overall well-being improved.

In September 2022, her CA15-3 level unexpectedly rose again to 196 U/mL. She was continuing her conventional treatments without interruption, and nothing else had changed. The only adjustment was to increase the dosages of specific Chinese herbs that seem to have anti-tumour properties. Following these modifications, the marker levels stabilised and then began to drop again, eventually reaching 21 U/mL in early 2025.

This turning point strongly indicates a therapeutic impact of the herbs themselves. The patient also experienced a visible healing of the breast lesion and maintained an excellent quality of life despite the severity of her diagnosis.

This case illustrates how Chinese herbal medicine, when incorporated into a carefully monitored integrative strategy, may contribute meaningfully to cancer management, not only in alleviating side effects but also potentially influencing tumour activity itself.

Breast Cancer Patient

I was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago. I was scared, unsure what to do. A friend suggested to approach Maria Sole as she might have some suggestions on how to change my diet – something I was interested to try…I got so much more than that!!

Maria Sole and I spent more than an hour on an initial consultation. She explained to me the basis of Chinese philosophy and how the body could benefit from some external help to recover the lost harmony and boost the immune system. Maria Sole was very reassuring and also very clear about how she could accompany me on my journey with both acupuncture and herbal remedies. I started with acupuncture first, and after a couple of sessions, I could already feel my body relax and felt less anxious about the forthcoming operation. Soon after, I started taking some herbs- they take a bit longer to kick in but what a difference they make!

The positive support of both acupuncture and herbs on my body and energy have been particularly visible after the operation when Maria Sole worked beautifully on my scars with fantastic results.

The acupuncture was also super helpful to move around energy after the long anaesthesia. The herbs were a God sent during chemo and radiotherapy– Maria Sole adjusted them to be able to support my immune system – I never felt sick, and I always felt with enough energy to be able to go ahead with my daily activities, including long walks and tai- chi. I am now “addicted” to my herbs – I can feel the difference immediately if, by mistake, my order is late…

Maria Sole has adjusted them to support my forced menopause, and they are helping me to keep to a minimum the side effects of the medication I am on. I am so grateful to Maria Sole, and so happy that I trusted her when we met- I have never looked back!!

Metastatic Breast Cancer Patient

I reached out to Maria Sole to help me with metastatic breast cancer. That was almost three years ago. When we started the treatment, I was in excruciating pain. She helped me with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. She adjusted the herbs every couple of weeks.

I slowly started getting better; my blood results were improving, and I was in no pain at all after a few months. Maria was so invested in my well-being. She is so caring and supportive. I am so happy to have her on my healing journey. 💕💕
